What creates ‘feels like real’

  1. Impact on future
    1. Permanent things create the ‘that is so real’
    2. Breaks illusions, hopeful idealism
  2. Alignment / Congruence / Consistency
    1. Consistency of identity
      1. Between past and present
      2. Between social identity and ‘who you think you are’ identity
      3. Between social identity and who you are when you’re not around people identity
      4. Consistency between different social identities
      5. Alignment with an expected identity
    2. Lacking independence
      1. Genericness
      2. Copying others as fakeness
  3. Spontaneity
    1. Her laugher felt so real
    2. As opposed to controlled, intentional, fake
    3. As an indication that your true feeling was expressed
    4. Happening without manipulation
      1. And so is an indicator of truthfulness and authenticity
  4. Truth
    1. Telling the truth, no matter whether it is good or bad for you
      1. “Keeping it real”
      2. Not being outcome oriented
        1. Acting so as to get what you want as fake, rather than as who you are

Different definitions of real

  1. Is in line with the truth, or with reality
    1. Reality as that which does not change when you stop believing in it
  2. Bringing yourself back to reality

    2. Death of a friend as making death real (removing your state of denial)
